I would like to help people feel cared for, safe, and given dignity at a difficult time in their life.

Information

If you are interested in volunteering at the Winter Night Shelter, here's some information you will find useful:

Shifts: Daytime (1-3pm, 3-6pm, and 1-6pm), Evening (5.30-10pm), Night (10pm-7am), Morning (7-9am). Ideally volunteers will work a minimum of five shifts during over Winter. Committing to a weekly or fortnightly role is also helpful for the roster. As overnight shifts are hard to cover, volunteers who can only do one or two of these will still be considered. You will be given the opportunity to state your availability on the registration form.

Volunteers per shift: A minimum of three volunteers per shift will be rostered. During the night, two volunteers will need to be awake, while one can sleep in a separate area.

Where will I volunteer? You will be rostered on at a venue according to your availability. You do not have to volunteer in the church you usually attend.

Requirements: Volunteers will need to be 18 years or older, required to have a Working With Children Check, as well as providing a referee.

Roles: At the Shelter - Venue Co-ordinator, Shift Worker, Cook. Other support roles - Driver (to transport trailer from one venue to the next, drive minibus with guests to venue at 6pm). For more information on roles, click here.

Training is compulsory for all volunteers.
