Training & Development
Since its formation, Stable One has provided training for winter shelter leaders - both locally and across our Winter Shelter Network - along with shelter volunteers and staff. We have also delivered numerous presentations to church congregations, school groups, community organisations, and at social justice conferences both within Victoria and interstate.
We are deeply committed to raising awareness of homelessness and its many complexities, and to equipping and inspiring people to reach out with compassion and practical support to those who are experiencing hardship.
Stable One is actively working towards expanding our educational offerings and will be exploring pathways to both enhance and develop training and development opportunities through the following avenues:
Community Learning
Providing the community - external volunteers, church congregations, school groups, community organisations - both formally and informally, with a greater understanding of the complexities of homelessness and highlighting ways we can, both individually and collectively, walk alongside those experiencing homelessness.
Volunteer Training
Empowerment Education
Insight Resourcing
Internal training - delivered both locally and across our Network - equips Winter Shelter Project Coordinators, Venue Coordinators, and volunteers with the practical skills needed to operate shelters, alongside a deeper understanding of homelessness and how to work safely and effectively with vulnerable people.
Facilitating training for guests of our Winter Shelter or other future programs - eg. job ready, white card, mastery of particular skills.
Intentional thought development, research, publication of papers and facilitation of reference groups.
