Saturday Night Meals

Saturday night meals provide a way for partner churches and organisations to get involved in a practical way at The Lodge and to 'practice hospitality' (Romans 12:13). Why not gather a small team, check the calendar, choose a Saturday night (or nights) that are available and submit the form.

Our goal is ‘a community that cares, connects and empowers people experiencing homelessness’. One of the ways we show our care is by providing tasty, healthy and nutritious meals. It’s fine on a Saturday night, however, to deviate from the ‘healthy’ a little and spoil our lodgers.

You will cook for the lodgers (max 12), a staff member and your kitchen team for 6pm. After dinner is all cleaned up, stay for the evening for a game of cards, pool, table tennis or just to hang out at the jigsaw puzzle or by the fire and chat with our lodgers.

We will be providing you with some guidelines – kitchen protocols etc as well as some pointers for interacting with lodgers. We will also ensure you are oriented to the kitchen on your arrival at The Lodge. (Please note, all food must be cooked onsite.) We will endeavour to update our calendar to keep track of the meals we are having. That way we can try and avoid too many repeats close together. At least one member of the team should have completed some food handling training.
