Local churches work together through Winter (1 June – 31 August) to support men and women experiencing homelessness in the Yarra Valley. They open their buildings overnight with dinner, dormitory-style sleeping, and breakfast. A Daytime Support Centre offers lunch, laundry and shower facilities and additional opportunities for connection and referrals.
Volunteers
Want to get involved? Volunteers are recruited from within churches and the local community. They are not required to have a personal Christian faith, but should be willing to work within this ethos. Volunteers will have a desire to work in this project to serve, journey with and support people who are experiencing homelessness. A range of skills and abilities amongst volunteers will add value to the Winter Shelter project.
